Hi-Performance insulated glass is one of the most important factors for total window performance, offering year-round thermal performance and durability. Insulated glass is made up of two or three panes of glass separated by an air space. The air space provides the insulating value by reducing the transfer of heat flow between the inside and outside. Our window systems all incorporate true ½” airspaces for optimal energy efficiency. Other products on the market may reduce this airspace to accommodate a frame that was not originally designed to hold Triple Pane glass. This reduces the energy efficiency and condensation resistance of your windows.
All of our windows incorporate glass options that provide:
- Improved condensation resistance
- Better sound control
- Increased wind load resistance
- Optimal control of winter heat loss and summer solar heat gain
True Warm-Edge Spacer Technology
Warm Edge Technology refers to the type of spacer material used to separate the panes of glass in an insulated glass unit. If the material is less conductive than a conventional aluminum spacer at the edge of the glass, it is said to be warm edge. Most newer window spacers are less conductive and outperform aluminum. But there's still one small problem – they may contain some kind of metal, which is highly conductive.
Unlike "warm edge” options that contain steel or aluminum wrapped in butyl rubber, Super Spacer® is made of 100 percent foam. Super Spacer's TrueWARM® NO-Metal formula blocks the heat escape path and provides some of the best thermal performance and durability in the industry.
Super Spacer’s TrueWARM® edge technology also helps protect your family from the threat of bacteria and moulds caused by condensation on your windows.
Low-E Glass Coatings
Low-emittance (Low-E) coatings are virtually invisible. Metal or metallic oxide layers are deposited on a window glass surface in an effort to reduce the U-factor by suppressing radiated heat flow out the window through the glass.
In warm weather, Low-E glass reflects the sun's heat and reduces solar heat gain.
In cold weather, Low-E glass reflects the heat back into the home, reducing heat loss.
Argon Gas Filled IG Units
Argon gas is less conductive than air, which further reduces the heat transfer between the inside and outside. Argon gas is nontoxic, non-reactive, clear, and odorless.
Self Cleaning Glass
Activ™ self cleaning glass is an ordinary glass with a special surface on the outside. Once exposed to daylight, the surface chemically reacts in two ways. First, it breaks down any organic dirt deposits and second, rain water 'sheets' down the glass to wash the loosened dirt away. Its unique dual-action uses the forces of nature to help keep the glass free from organic dirt, giving you not only the practical benefit of less cleaning, but also clearer, better-looking windows.
Obscure Glass
Obscure glass is used primarily to obscure views while still allowing in light. These glass options are typically used in bathrooms and other rooms where privacy and light are desired.
Pinhead – A pebble-textured obscure glass that is our standard offering
Rain – An obscure glass that gives the illusion of running water down the glass
Glue Chip – A translucent glass of fine etched glue texture in random patterns
Interior PVC casing with corner rosettes adds a touch of elegance to your home. This casing offers the same maintenance free benefits as our windows. Because no fasteners are required it offers a clean and consistent look and is very well suited to higher humidity areas such as bathrooms and kitchens.
